Rav Shlomke Zhviller’s proven segulah during a pandemic!

One Erev Shabbos during the typhus outbreak in Yerushalayim, which claimed many lives z”l, R’ Dovid Minzburg z”l wheeled his young son Ephraim into Shaarei Tzedek Hospital. The legendary Dr. Moshe Wallach z”l took a look at the boy and told his father, “The end is near.”
R’ Dovid frantically headed to the home of Rav Shlomke Shviller zt”l, pleading for him to intervene. The Rebbe told him, “I’m in the midst of building a mikvah and things just aren’t coming together. Can you undertake to make sure it is completed within three months? If you undertake this sincerely, Ephraim will survive and live long.”
R’ Dovid promptly agreed. When he returned to the hospital, Ephraim’s temperature already dropped by several degrees. By Motzei Shabbos, he was already sitting up in his bed. Dr. Wallach told R’ Dovid, “Over the past two weeks, we treated many typhus patients. Very few survived. I did not see even one case like your son’s. It was literally techiyas hamesim.” R’ Ephraim Minzburg, z”l, lived a vibrant, fullfilling life and saw generations of offsprings. He was niftar at the age of 77.
May the zechus of the precious mitzvah of taharah protect us all.
